Un omaggio contemporaneo ad Alessandro Volta
Life Electric è uno dei monumenti più riconoscibili di Como e una delle opere contemporanee più suggestive del lungolago. La scultura è dedicata ad Alessandro Volta, il grande scienziato comasco inventore della pila, ed è stata progettata da Daniel Libeskind. Si trova all’estremità della diga foranea Pietro Caldirola, nel primo bacino del Lago di Como, in una posizione panoramica davvero unica, affacciata direttamente su Piazza Cavour e sul centro cittadino.
Realizzata nel 2015, Life Electric colpisce per la sua forma slanciata e per il forte valore simbolico. L’opera, alta oltre 13 metri, richiama infatti la tensione elettrica tra i due poli della batteria, in un chiaro riferimento all’invenzione più celebre di Volta. Le due grandi linee sinuose in acciaio dialogano con il paesaggio circostante e sembrano quasi emergere dall’acqua, fondendo arte, scienza e natura in un unico segno architettonico.

Life Electric is one of Como’s most recognizable landmarks and one of the most striking contemporary artworks along the lakefront.
